What a profile shows Link to What a profile shows#

A public profile is a page at screencake.com/u/your-username. Anyone with the link can open it after you publish it. The page shows:

  • your name, picture, and username
  • your headline, bio, location, and website
  • up to 5 links
  • your craft
  • your credits
  • your follower and following counts

Your email address is never shown. Your scripts, productions, and workspaces are not shown.

Redeem an invite link Link to Redeem an invite link#

Publishing is invite-only for now. A person with a profile can give you an invite link. The link has the form screencake.com/profiles/invite/<code>.

  1. Sign in to Screencake.
  2. Open the invite link.
  3. Select Accept invite.

Screencake then opens Account. The Public profile switch is available. Nothing is published until you turn it on.

Each invite link is valid for 30 days and works one time. An expired or used link shows a message. Ask the sender for a new link.

Set your username Link to Set your username#

Each account has a username. Screencake makes the first one from your name. To change it, open Account › Public profile, change Username, and select Save profile.

Username can use lowercase letters, numbers, and single hyphens, 3 to 30 characters. Screencake refuses a username that another person uses. Screencake also refuses reserved names such as admin and support.

When you change your username, Screencake holds the old name for you for 30 days. In that time, no other person can take it. To take it back, enter it in Username again and select Save profile. After 30 days, the old name is free for other people.

The old address stops working at once. Links to the old address show a page not found error.

Publish or hide your profile Link to Publish or hide your profile#

Open Account › Public profile. Add a headline, a bio, a location, a website, and up to 5 links. Select Save profile.

To publish the page, turn on Public profile. Anyone with the link can then see your name, your picture, and the fields you added. To hide the page, turn off Public profile. Only you can then open it.

Select Preview page to see the page before you publish it. After you publish, the control is View public page.

The Public profile switch is not available until you redeem an invite link. The other fields save without an invite.

Add credits Link to Add credits#

Credits are productions you worked on. Your public page shows them, newest year first.

  1. Open Account › Credits.
  2. Enter a title and a role. A year and a link are optional.
  3. Select Add credit.

To change a credit, select Edit. To remove a credit, select Remove. You can add up to 50 credits.

After you redeem an invite, you get 5 invite links to give to other people. Each link is valid for 30 days and works one time.

  1. Open Account › Public profile › Invite links.
  2. Select Create invite link.
  3. Select Copy and send the link to one person.

The list shows each link with its status: unused, used, or expired. To cancel an unused link, select Revoke. A revoked link frees its slot, so you can make another.

Follow people Link to Follow people#

Sign in and open a public profile. Select Follow. To stop, select Following.

Each profile shows a follower count and a following count. Select a count to see the list. The lists include only people with a published profile. Screencake sends no notification when you follow a person.

Report a profile Link to Report a profile#

Sign in and open the profile. Select the flag control and describe the problem. Screencake sends the report to support with a link to the page.

Refer to Collaboration and access for reports about comments and scripts.
